Function: It controls the flow of exhaust gas to the turbine wheel (in Variable Geometry Turbos) or operates the wastegate to limit boost pressure, ensuring optimal engine performance and preventing over-boost.

Piston Cooling Nozzles (PCNs) or Oil Jets are critical components in modern high-performance diesel engines. They are designed to spray a precise stream of engine oil directly onto the underside of the piston crown. This action serves two main purposes: Thermal Management (removing heat generated during combustion to prevent piston seizure or melting) and Lubrication (providing oil to the wrist pin and cylinder walls). Failure of a nozzle (clogging or misalignment) can lead to catastrophic engine failure.

Issue Description: The transmission oil temperature gauge enters the red zone after only 30 minutes of operation, accompanied by a burning smell and difficult gear shifting.
Cause Analysis: 1. Oil cooler blockage limiting flow. 2. Low transmission fluid level. 3. Worn transmission pump.
Solution: 1. Inspect and flush the transmission oil cooler lines. 2. Top up fluid with the manufacturer-specified grade. 3. If pressure is low, replace the transmission pump. 4. Verify the integrity of the heat exchanger unit.
